In addition to serving our clients, our lawyers serve as experts on Middle Eastern laws to numerous US and English law firms in both transactional and litigation matters. Our firm is

The firm's lawyers have decades of experience in multi-jurisdictional issues in numerous legal systems. Our clients depend on our effectiveness in accomplishing their objectives in matters others are unfamiliar with.
The law firm of Ibrahim Legwell was established in 1960. It is one of the oldest, most experienced and well respected firms in Libya. The firm has the expertise and experience to efficiently and competently meet the needs of both international corporations as well as private investors. The firm first built its international
reputation after Libya's independence and maintained its international status to this present day. It includes seven partners, and several associates, including four female lawyers. The firm was founded and is headed by Mr. Ibrahim Legwell, an internationally renowned lawyer, former Ambassador at large for Arab and African Affairs for Libya in the late 60s and the personal envoy for special missions of the President of the country in the early 1970s. After completing his law and post graduate degrees at Cairo
University in Egypt, Mr. Legwell’s career started in 1958 as the head of the legal department for Shell Corporation in Libya. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the First National Oil Company (of Libya) and legal advisor to the Central Bank. Mr. Legwell is also a co-founder and a member of the board of the International Islamic Call Society
which enjoys observer status both at the UN and other international organizations, a member of the international society of Islamic law, a member of several constitutional and legal national committees, and the author of several books.
He built his reputation while undertaking the defense of some of the most important civil cases and international disputes involving Libya. From 1991 to 1998, Mr. Legwell served as the head of the defense team for the Lockerbie case and was instrumental in structuring the legal solution of setting up an international tribunal to try the Lockerbie suspects.
