Legwell and Ali & Partners is a partnership formed in September 2004 between the law firm of Ali & Partners and the law firm of Legwell & Partners.
Ali & Partners is a Middle Eastern firm that offers a full range of legal services to a diversified client base, including well-known multi-national corporations resident in North America, Europe and Asia, on all aspect of the laws of Arabic speaking Middle Eastern countries. As a Middle Eastern firm with offices in the United States, we offer particular value to our

experience in multi-jurisdictional issues in numerous legal systems. In particular the firm has a strong practice group that specialize in government procurement and anti- corruption laws. the region.
The law firm of Ibrahim Legwell was established in 1960. It is one of the oldest, most experienced and well-respected firms in Libya. The firm has the expertise and experience to efficiently and competently meet the needs of both international corporations and private investors. The firm first built its international reputation after Libya's independence and has
maintained its international status to this day.

The firm includes seven partners, and several associates, including four female lawyers. All partners in the firm are highly qualified and can help international clients with strategic planning in all economic sectors in Libya, particularly banking and oil & gas. They are qualified and accredited to represent international clients in front of all Libyan judicial and
governmental bodies, including the Supreme Court and international tribunals.
The firm was founded and is headed by Mr. Ibrahim Legwell, an internationally renowned lawyer, former Ambassador at large for Arab and African Affairs for Libya in the late 60s and the personal envoy for special missions of the President in the early 1970s. After completing his law and post graduate degrees at Cairo University, Mr. Legwell began his career in 1958 as
the head of the legal department for Shell Corporation in Libya. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the First National Oil
Company of Libya and legal advisor to the Central Bank. Mr. Legwell is a co-founder and member of the board of the International Islamic Call Society which enjoys observer status at the UN and other international
organizations. He is a member of the international society of Islamic law, a member of several constitutional and legal national committees, and the author of several books.
Mr. Legwell built his reputation while undertaking the defense of some of the most important civil cases and international disputes involving Libya. He represented Libya in a number of international disputes and
routinely collaborates with distinguished and highly respected international law firms and legal experts from around the world. From 1991 to 1998, Mr. Legwell
served as the head of the defense team for the Lockerbie case and was instrumental in structuring the legal solution of setting up an international tribunal to try the Lockerbie suspects. The international defense team, headed by Mr. Ibrahim Legwell, included some of the most prominent lawyers and law firms in England, Scotland, France, Italy, Belgium, Tunisia, Egypt
and the United States.

Dr. Ibrahim Legwell
Dr. Ibrahim Legwell was born in Tripoli – Libya 1935. He obtained his undergraduate degree in economics and his Doctorate in Law from Cairo University. DR. Legwell started his carrier as an in-house attorney with Shell Libya and then moved on to establish his law practice in 1960. DR. Legwell served on the board of the National Oil Company of Libya and as an advisor to
Libya’s Central Bank.
Dr. Legwell was appointed Ambassador At Large responsible for Arab and African affairs; and participated in setting up the Constitutional and Legal Committees of Libya.
His legal practice include commercial and company law, banking law, oil and gas, Share’a law, criminal law. Dr. Legwell built his reputation while undertaking the defense of some of the most important civil cases and international disputes involving Libya. He represented Libya in a number of international disputes and routinely collaborates with distinguished and highly
respected international law firms and legal experts from around the world. Mr K Al Zanki
Mr. Zanki is a managing
partner. He joined the firm of Legwell after he graduated in 1994 from
Al-Fateh University in Tripoli. He worked on civil and commercial cases
that involved major corporations. He represented the office in at Camp
Zeist in Holland during the Lockerby case hearings. Mr. Al-Zanki is a
member of the Arab Bar Association and the Bar Association of Tripoli.
Mr. Zanki has an in depth experience in all aspects involving Libyan
Law.

Mr. Najeeb Ali Seif
Graduate from Benghazi University in 1991. Mr. Seif joined the firm and served clients in various practice areas which include Corporate Law, Commercial Law, Commercial Litigation and Arbitration.

Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Jaleel Alsagheer
Graduated from the University of Sert in 1999 and started his carrier with the National Oil Company of Libya. He joined Dr. Legwell’s firm in 2001 to present. Mr. Alsagheer practices Corporate Law, Commercial Law, Commercial Litigation and Arbitration.

Ms. Kareema Ben Isa
Ms. Isa graduated in 1991 from the University of Nasser Al-Umamiah with an LLB in Law. Ms. Ben Isa practice area is criminal law. She is licensed to litigate client matter in the Court of First Instance and the Court of Appeals.
Ms. Nadia Brahim Rabti
Ms. Rabti graduated in 2001. She joined Dr. Legwell’s firm as an associate. She works on matters that involve commercial and company law, banking law, oil and gas, Share’a law, criminal law
